Our designer Susan Podowski led this comprehensive transformation, tackling everything from reimagining the home’s floor plan to creating luxurious new spaces that enhance daily living. A Kitchen Transformed
The kitchen remodeling portion of this project centered on creating an open, inviting space anchored by a large central island. We removed walls and barriers to achieve a more open concept that’s perfect for both everyday family meals and entertaining guests.
The material selections reflect the sophistication of mid-century modern design while incorporating contemporary luxury. We installed quartzite countertops that provide both durability and visual impact, complemented by warm brass hardware that adds a touch of vintage glamour. Designer lighting fixtures complete the space, providing both function and architectural interest.
Throughout the kitchen and connecting spaces, we installed contrasting trim that coordinates with the new cabinetry, creating visual continuity that ties the entire first floor together. The updated built-ins around the fireplace maintain the mid-century aesthetic while providing modern functionality, and a new large sliding glass door floods the space with natural light while strengthening the indoor-outdoor connection that’s so characteristic of mid-century architecture.

Master Bathroom Suite
The bathroom remodeling in the master suite was equally transformative. We took this space down to the studs, reinsulated for comfort and efficiency, and rebuilt it as a true spa-like retreat. The centerpiece is a generous wetroom space that brings European luxury to this Texas home, creating a seamless, waterproofed area that feels both expansive and intimate.
Every detail was carefully considered to create a bathroom that feels like a daily escape while maintaining the clean lines and functional beauty that define mid-century modern design.

Reimagining the Layout
The most significant challenge with this home was its impractical layout. The original floor plan featured no mudroom or pantry — essential components for modern family living — and perhaps most puzzling, a bathroom positioned directly off the kitchen. Our team saw an opportunity to completely rethink the home’s functionality.
We repurposed an unused front living space to create a more logical flow throughout the home. The powder bath was relocated to a more appropriate location away from the kitchen, immediately improving both privacy and practicality. From the garage, we designed a new entry that flows into a spacious, functional mudroom — giving the family a dedicated space for coats, shoes, and everyday essentials. We also incorporated a hidden pantry, adding valuable storage without disrupting the home’s clean aesthetic lines.
